CONDUCT AND BEHAVIOR

  • Elwood City welcomes all players (boys and girls) and their parents to our Club.

    Every person: spectator, player, club member, official, participant, administrator, coach, parent or member of the community involved with the sport, should work to ensure:

    • inclusion of every person regardless of their age, gender or sexual orientation

    • inclusion of every person regardless of their race culture or religion

    • opportunities for people of all abilities to participate in the sport and develop to their full potential

    • respect is shown towards others, the club and the broader community

    • a safe and inclusive environment for all · elimination of violent and abusive behaviour

    • protection from sexual harassment or intimidation

    The Code applies to community sport, training and club sanctioned activities.

    Referees for all competitions have been instructed to come down hard on breaches of the FV’s Code of Conduct for players, coaches, officials and spectators. Avenues for appeal are expensive. Fines can be imposed by Football Victoria. To protect the Club from the financial impact of such fines the Club has determined that all players, coaches, officials, parents and supporters will be held personally liable for any fines they incur.

    Players are expected to behave in accordance with the code below

    • Play by the Rules and within the spirit of the game;

    • Do not argue with the match official. If you disagree, have your captain or coach approach the match official during a break in play or after the match is concluded;

    • Control your temper. Verbal abuse of officials or other players, deliberately distracting or provoking another person is not acceptable or permitted in any sport;

    • Maintain your focus and work hard for yourself and your team;

    • Be a good sport and be prepared to acknowledge good play whether it is from your team or the opposition;

    • Treat all players as you would like to be treated. Do not interfere with, bully or take unfair advantage of another player;

    • Cooperate with your coach, team mates and opponents. Without them, there would be no competition;

    • Play for your own enjoyment, and not just to please parents and coaches;

    • Remove all jewellery prior to training and match play, as it is a hazard to you and those around you;

    • Do not accept or use any banned or unauthorised drug(s), including the consumption of alcohol at any time.

    Parents’ behaviour must follow the below Code all times:

    • Remember that children play the sport for their enjoyment, and not yours;

    • Encourage all children to participate, do not force them;

    • Focus on the child’s efforts and performance rather than the result of the activity (that is, winning or losing);

    • Encourage children to always participate according to the rules;

    • Never ridicule, yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a game;

    • Remember that children learn best by example, so applaud good play by both teams;

    • Support all efforts to remove racial and religious vilification, verbal and physical abuse from sporting activities;

    • Respect the match official’s decisions and teach your child to do likewise;

    • Show respect and appreciation to Club officials, including coaches, officials and administrators. Ensure any issues are raised through the correct channels;

    • Do not smoke or consume alcohol near the team bench (Technical Area) or sideline.

    It is important that all spectators at a Football Federation Victoria (FFV) approved fixture are able to enjoy the match in a safe and comfortable environment. Accordingly, each person present at a FFV fixture must:

    • respect the decisions of the Match Officials;

    • respect the rights, dignity and wroth of every person regardless of their race, colour, religion, language, politics, national or ethnic origin;

    • not engage in the use of violence in any form, whether it is by other Spectators, Team Officials (including coaches) or Players;

    • not engage in discrimination, harassment or abuse in any form whether lawful or otherwise, including but not limited to the use of obscene or offensive language or gestures, the incitement of hatred or violence or partaking in indecent or racist chanting;

    • comply with FFV’s “Conditions of Entry” at all venues, and any ticket conditions;

    • not carry, light or throw flares or missiles (including on to the field of play or at other spectators);

    • not enter the field of play or its surrounds without lawful authority; and

    • conduct themselves in a manner that enhances, rather than injures, the reputation and goodwill of FFV, Football Federation Australia (FFA) and football generally.

    Any person who does not comply with this Code or who in the opinion of the Club and/or FFV causes or attempts to cause or is reasonably likely to cause a disturbance may be evicted from the venue and banned from attending future matches held on behalf of FFV. Any offender who then breaches the ban order against them may be charged with trespass and subject to further penalties and sanctions, including the possibility of further legal action.

OTHER

  • Environmental factors regularly affect the conduct of outdoor activities. While environmental factors will not usually influence whether an Elwood City Soccer Club sanctioned event should commence or continue, occasionally, extremely adverse weather conditions may give rise to a need to assess whether participants, officials and spectators are at risk. Extreme weather may be defined as weather that threatens the immediate or long-term safety of individuals, as a result of heat, rain, lightning, wind, or other unusual or unpredictable weather conditions.

    As a community organisation, Elwood City welcomes all players (boys and girls) and their parents to our Club and we are focused on making participation in our training, matches and events as safe as possible.

    As a Football Victoria registered club we have adopted the Football Victoria Extreme Weather policy as the Club’s policy.

  • The increased ease of taking and modifying images and the proliferation of sophisticated and accessible photographic technology has raised concerns in today’s society about the potential risks for child safety posed directly and indirectly to children and young people through the inappropriate use of photographs on sports websites, social media and in publications.

    Elwood City Soccer Club is mindful of its duty of care to its members, with the best intentions of protecting children and young people from potential risk. In keeping with a number of leading sports organisations both locally and worldwide, the Club has implemented a Photography and Video Policy which is applicable to all Club events.

    As a Football Victoria registered club we have adopted the Football Victoria Photography and Video policy as the Club’s policy.

    The Football Victoria Photographic and Video Policy can be found here

  • Elwood City welcomes all players (boys and girls) and their parents to our Club.

    As a community organisation, we are focused on making it as easy as possible for players to register with us.

    We have to be also cognisant of the financial impact each registration has on the club’s finances, particularly where most costs for the season are incurred upfront – FV fees, equipment (balls, cones, goals, flags, poles etc.), kit costs, coaches (pre-season, grading and during the season for training and games).

    The Club however also recognises that there may be occasions where players/families wish to withdraw from the season after fees have been paid. In general the Club has a “No pay, no play, no exceptions” and a “No change of mind refund” approach.

    To strike a balance between the financial sustainability of the club and refunding fees, the Club defines a Commitment Date as the earlier of (a) a kit order being placed with the Club’s supplier, where the Club is financially responsible for the kit order; and (b) the official pre-season period commencing on the Monday 4 weeks before the first official match fixture date sanctioned by Football Victoria.

    The Club’s policy on refunds is therefore as follows:

    1. Any withdrawal prior to the Commitment Date will be offered a full refund less $50 admin cancellation fee

    2. Any withdrawal on or after the Commitment Date will not be entitled to any refund

    3. As an exception to 2. above, there may be exceptional circumstances which indicate a partial refund is appropriate such as a player’s serious injury which precludes them from playing for the rest of the season. These exceptions will be presented to the Juniors Committee for consideration and decision.

    In the event that the season is cancelled after fees have been paid, the Club will refund a proportion of the fees paid or elect to reduce the next season’s fees for players invited in the new season. The refund will be less than 100% of the fees paid as the Club must account for the following costs in order to keep the club running: (a) season set-up costs; and (b) fixed costs that can’t be avoided or negotiated lower; and (c) variable costs which have been already been spent, assuming the season is cancelled at a time between registration opening and the end of the season.

    The Club will communicate the refund amount to all members as soon as possible. However, please note that the Club is reliant on third parties (such as Football Victoria and Football Australia) to confirm any applicable refund amount prior to the Club being able to finalise a refund amount.

    In cases of a provider default, that is, where the Club is unable to field a team in the applicable age group and options to move to other teams within the Club have been exhausted or are not suitable, the Club will, within 60 days, refund registration Fees in full, unless: a) the player withdraws from a team before it is cancelled; or b) the player accepts an offer in an alternative team arranged by the Club.

The Club however also recognises that there may be occasions where players/families are late registering and to charge a full season Club fee may be inequitable.

    Note Football Victoria registration fees are in addition to the Club fee and are required to be paid by all players. These are set by Football Victoria and within their own rules and regulations, which the Club has no control over.

    To strike a balance between the financial sustainability of the Club and late fees, the Club late registrations policy is therefore as follows:

    1. Any registration received before 6 weeks after the first official match fixture date sanctioned by Football Victoria in the relevant age group will be charged a full season Club Fee

    2. Any registration received on or after 6 weeks after the first official match fixture date sanctioned by Football Victoria in the relevant age group will be charged a 50% Club Fee
