Match day, training and sideline expectations

  • We create a respectful and inclusive environment where players can learn, develop and love the game

    Zero Tolerance

    Elwood City SC has zero tolerance for:

    • Abuse of referees, players, coaches or spectators

    • Aggressive or inappropriate behavior

    • Sideline coaching or interference

    • Poor sportsmanship

    Team Managers and Marshals are responsible for upholding our standards every week.

    • Communicate training and match details and ensure families are informed

    • Keep player availability up to date

    • Support the coach - coaches make all football decisions.

    • Listen to concerns and raise any issues with respect.

    • Keep all private information confidential.

    • Organise volunteers and ensure match day roles are covered.

  • DRIBL is the official Football Victoria competition management platform.

    • All fixtures, updates and results are managed in DRIBL

    • Team Managers must check DRIBL regularly

    • Make sure all families are using DRIBL for the latest information

    By Friday before the match day, check the fixture lists for any changes. If changed, update your team group and inform families.

  • What must be enforced

    Parent Positioning

    • Parents must stand on the opposite side of the pitch to the coach

    • Applies at training, matches, and half-time

    • If parents are on the wrong side the Marshal must move them.

    No sideline coaching

    • Parents cannot coach, instruct, or direct players.

    • Only the coach gives instructions.

    • Marshal must stop this immediately

    Respectful Behavior

    • No abuse of referees, players or coaches

    • No aggressive or inappropriate behavior

    • Elwood City SC has ZERO TOLERANCE.

    Coach Interaction

    • Parents must not approach coaches during the game or half-time

    • Speak to the coach only after the game, after the coach has finished speaking to the players.


  • Before Match Day

    • Check fixtures on DRIBL for any changes

    • Update team group and inform families

    • For U12+ complete the match sheet with player details

    On Match Day - Arrive Early (30 minutes)

    • Introduce yourself to the opposing Team Manager.

    • For U12+ ensure match sheet is complete in DRIBL with starters selected and team submitted.

    Home Games - Set up

    • Set up pitch, goals, nets, corner flags and cones

    • Put out chairs for both teams.

    • Provided 3 properly inflated balls

    • For U12+, put out stretcher and first aid kit

    • Open change rooms and referee room

    • Show referee to change room

  • During the Match

    • Ensure spectators follow the code of behavior.

    • support a positive environment

    • for U12+ keep a note of goal scorers as a backup to the referee

    After the Match

    • Select Player of the Match (if applicable)

    • Thank the volunteers (game leader, assistance referee (lines person), marshal, etc).

    • Home games: pack away goals, chairs, stretchers, equipment and match balls.

    • If no referee is allocated - complete the match sheet in DRIBL before 6pm on the same day (note that if a referee is allocated that it is the responsibility of the referee to complete the score in DRIBL)

  • Equipment Store

    Access via the master key and lock box

    First Aid

    Call 000 in an emergency. AED in Change Room 1, First aid kit & cold packages are in Equipment Store 1, report any use to the Club Secretary

    Change Rooms

    Access via master key. Key must always be returned to the lockbox. Last team on duty must lock up with any rubbish cleared before locking.

    Training Gear

    Return all balls, bibs, cones, pegs & ties to their labelled areas. Report missing/damaged items.

    Grounds

    Rubbish cleared, bins returned, goals back in place, equipment packed away. Report ground issues to the Club Secretary

  • Look for Elwood City Fill-In Players

    (Ensure that players are eligible to play in your competition)

    Reschedule (U12+)

    Contract the opposition and arrange a new time. Football Victoria has catch up rounds built into the schedule where fixtures can be played.

    Forfeit (U11 and Under)

    Email competitions@footballvictoria.com.au with fixture details and request to forfeit as early as possible.
